Benefits of SIP tedders

The superiority of SIP tedders, particularly for New Zealand farms and terrain, is due to lots of small but significant innovations and design benefits that add up to a robust, reliable and easy-to-use piece of machinery that will make your operation more efficient.

Tedder spread: The innovative small rotor geometry with spring tine arms and different shank lengths work together to significantly improve crop flow. This means higher working rates and an improved spread pattern. They also ensure that the crop is turned cleanly.

Spreading angle adjustments: SIP tedders have an adjustable spreading angle, so you can adapt the machine to the harvest conditions. Depending on the model, the spreading angle can be set anywhere between 12 and 18 degrees. The tines can be also adjusted forwards or backwards by 7 degrees, allowing you to fine-tune the spreading pattern.

Differing shank lengths: Having spring tine shanks of different lengths also delivers a clean pick-up and protects against losing broken tines. The tines have five coils to improve flexibility, which means fewer breakages.

Wheel position alignment: The wheels on SIP tedders can be adjusted for height and spreading angle, and they can also be shifted to make tedding near the edge of fields easier.

Sturdy rotors: Tedders take a lot of punishment. A spinning rotor and tine arms are subjected to very high forces, which is why SIP tine arms are made from high-resistant rounded tube. For extra strength, these are bolted to the rotor plate and are further reinforced from below.

3D pivoting: Some models have a 3-point pivoting hitch equipped with hydro-pneumatic stabilisers. This combination means the tedder will accurately follow the tractor no matter what the terrain.

Digi drive: SIP tedders also have a finger clutch on each hinge. These reduce maintenance requirements and deliver smooth, quiet running while reducing the load on the bearings.

Trailing models: SIP’s trailing tedders have some other special features that make for better forage and greater efficiency. For example, the rotor incline angle is adjustable from 15 to 21 degrees, for an even spread of forage, and a unique hydraulic folding system makes preparing the unit for work or transport quick and easy. It also allows reversing while working.
